I so enjoyed this post, Mary. Bedding down in a tent, walled off from seeing what’s going on outside, is an act of trust. And thanks for this tutorial on hyenas. So much more than just their spots!
Mary, what a fascinating piece of writing this is! I learned more than I ever thought I needed to know about hyenas. They are more terrifying and well-adapted than I thought. It seems that the Disney stereotype is more accurate than I thought!
I knew hyenas were matriarchal Abd the females more aggressive, but I didn't know about the psuedo-penis. 😳 Learn something new every day.
Some pretty wild stuff there, right!!

An evocative read, Mary. I could imagine being there. Hyenas are fascinating and a bit scary!

I agree! Also, they aren't just scavengers, but highly skilled predators. I like them.
A quick update Mary Dansak: I’ll soon know more about “Box Turtles, Hooligans, and Love Sweet Love,” Beginning next Tuesday. 🌞
